The Choices Community Cares "after-hours" project is a community-led prevention initiative specifically for gay and bisexual men living outside major cities in the Netherlands who are struggling to minimize or stop Chemsex, drug use and the risky sexual behaviors associated with drug use.
The initiative builds on the success of Choices interventions focused on treatment readiness and introduces comprehensive prevention support connected to our free anonymous Community Cares "afterhours" helpline.
The Community Cares "after-hours" helpline is a free and anonymous service available Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., "after normal business hours. Our helpline provides confidential support, including crisis management, referrals to treatment centers and harm reduction-based counseling to minimize or eliminate substance abuse and its associated risks. All callers can schedule an appointment for free psychological counseling online or in the office and can join our online national support group.
For anyone interested in addiction care, Choices now offers mental health treatments. We offer treatments upon referral from your primary care physician. Click here for more information about Choices Center for Care. If you are on a waiting list to begin treatment or to enroll in a residential treatment center, you can sign up for our treatment readiness group.
Our goal is to fill gaps in care for people in need of support around Chemsex who live outside major cities.
